Janet M. Bezler

Janet M. Bezler, born Columbia, Missouri, May 8, 1952; admitted to the Missouri Bar in April 1991; preparatory and legal education, University of Missouri, Columbia (B.S. 1975, J.D. 1990). Member: The Missouri Bar, Boone County Bar Association, Family Law Section of the Missouri Bar.

Janet joined Milt Harper and Associates as a law clerk in 1989 and was an associate with the firm until 1997. During that time she practiced Family Law and Criminal Defense. From 1997 to 2007 Janet was a sole-practitioner practicing exclusively Juvenile Law. In 2007 she joined the HEWN firm.

Janet's practice now focuses on all areas of Family Law including Dissolution of Marriage, Modification, Paternity, Custody, Child Support, Adoption, Guardianship of Minors, and Juvenile Law. She was counsel for the 14th Circuit (Howard and Randolph Counties) Juvenile Office, 2004-2007. Janet has acted as a Court appointed Guardian ad Litem representing children in Juvenile and Family Court, and Court appointed counsel for indigent parents in Juvenile Court, for the 13th (Boone and Callaway Counties), 14th (Howard and Randolph Counties), and 19th (Cole County) Circuits since 1991.

Janet has been a Court approved Mediator since 2002 and received her requisite training at the University of Missouri Columbia Center for Study of Dispute Resolution in 2000.

A native of Columbia, Missouri, Janet has dedicated her practice of law to helping the children and families of central Missouri.
