Car accidents: 1 dead, 1 injured in 3-car Jefferson County crash

Many Missouri families have had to adjust to life without loved ones who died in crashes over recent months. One of the most recent car accidents claimed the life of one person and caused serious injuries to another. This accident also involved a third vehicle and seemed to have resulted from one driver's failure to yield.

According to an accident report by the Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash occurred in the afternoon of a recent Friday. The report states that a 27-year-old St. Louis resident was eastbound in Jefferson County on Missouri Route 30 when he allegedly made a left turn onto another road without yielding to an approaching vehicle. He reportedly turned directly into the path of a pickup truck that was operated by an 84-year-old House Springs driver.

The first car then also struck another passenger car that was driven by a 19-year-old man from Robertsville. This driver needed no medical care. Although the driver who seemed to have caused the crash was also not injured, his 37-year-old passenger suffered fatal injuries, and he was declared dead at the hospital. The pickup truck driver was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The consequences of car accidents can be devastating to those who have lost loved ones, and also to the seriously injured victims and their families. Along with the emotional trauma comes the unanticipated financial expenses. In this case, the injured victim and the surviving family members of the deceased passenger will be entitled to pursue financial relief by filing a personal injury and a wrongful death claim in a Missouri civil court. Upon establishment of negligence on the part of the driver who failed to yield, the court may enter monetary judgments to cover documented financial losses and emotional damages sustained.
