Alleging bizarre behavior, dad seeks child custody

Once a marriage is dissolved or annulled, a couple will need to work together if there are children involved and share decision-making responsibilities. When the marriage dissolves and there are allegations of abuse, child custody issues may be more difficult for parties to decipher on their own. Court intervention by Missouri family court professionals can ensure parental rights are respected and serious issues are handled fairly and with the best interests of the children in mind.

One child custody case making news pertains to a father' fight to gain custody and sole decision-making responsibilities for his minor children. The couple was married for more than two decades and have four minor children and one adult child. Upon the marriage being annulled, the father alleges the mother was unwilling to communicate with him pertaining to important matters, such as medical issues and the children's education.

The father also alleges abuse on the part of the mother. He has stated he would like police to escort him to the house so he can retrieve belongings. The father cites an incident where contact with the children was denied and the mother banged on his car hood. He has stated that in his case, shared parental responsibility is not an option.

Cases where parents cannot work together to resolve child custody issues or situations where there are allegations of fear or abuse can make co-parenting difficult, if not impossible. The quest for sole decision-making responsibility can be difficult for one parent to pursue and can make future dealings with the other parent more troublesome than what may be wanted. With court intervention, a workable agreement can be reached, and the best interests of the children in Missouri will be considered above the wants and needs of the parents who may have difficulties working together outside of the confines of a courtroom.
