Car accidents: 3-vehicle crash sends Missouri driver to hospital

The failure to keep a proper lookout on Missouri roads can have devastating consequences. A moment's distraction can cause a driver not to notice that the vehicle in front is slowing down, and this may lead to multiple car accidents. If a safe following distance is not maintained, an inattentive driver may not be able to avoid rear-ending the car in front. This seems to have been the circumstances that caused a recent three-vehicle accident in Ste. Genevieve County.

In an accident report, the Missouri State Highway Patrol stated that the crash occurred on Route F on a Tuesday afternoon earlier this month. A 17-year-old driver of a car was eastbound when he failed to avoid hitting a pickup truck that had slowed down to turn left. The car struck the pickup truck's left rear, and the impact caused the truck to smash into another pickup truck.

The driver of the second pickup was transported to a local hospital for treatment of the moderate injuries she suffered. There is no mention of injuries suffered by the drivers of the other two vehicles. It was reported that safety belts restrained the drivers of all the vehicles that were involved in this accident.

Whenever Missouri residents suffer injuries in car accidents that are believed to have been caused by the negligent actions of other parties, they may be entitled to pursue financial relief. A car accident can bring about unanticipated expenses such a medical expenses and loss of income. By pursuing a personal injury claim in a civil court, an injured victim may receive compensation for documented losses -- both financial and emotional. However, the court will only enter a monetary judgment once negligence has been established.
