Car accidents happen on Missouri roads every day, and every motorist is at risk. Even the most careful drivers are sometimes involved in car accidents that are caused by the negligence of others. Car accidents often cause life-changing injuries, not to mention the medical expenses and other traumas that are typically experienced.

A 55-year-old Fulton man was the recent victim of a car accident on Highway 54. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred on a recent Sunday afternoon. An accident report indicates that the Fulton man was eastbound in a pickup truck when another driver pulled into his path from a side road.

The pickup truck overturned after it traveled off the roadway. The other car — operated by an 82-year-old man who was also from Fulton — came to a halt in the eastbound lanes. This car driver was uninjured, but the pickup truck driver was seriously injured. He was reportedly rushed to the University Hospital by air. No mention was made of any charges filed at the time.

An accident is always unanticipated, and, for this reason, the resulting medical expenses are not likely to form part of anyone’s monthly budget. Fortunately, victims of accidents that were caused by the negligence of other parties may pursue financial relief through the Missouri judicial system. A personal injury claim may be filed, and upon the establishment of negligence, the court may enter a monetary judgment. It will then consider all documented claims for financial losses along with physical and emotional damages that resulted from the accident.
