The Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is investigating an accident in which a 26-year-old woman lost her life. This was one of the many fatal motor vehicle accidents that have claimed lives on Missouri Highways. This crash reportedly occurred on Highway 141 at the intersection with Burgundy on a recent Saturday afternoon.

According to an accident report, the 26-year-old woman was driving an SUV along the highway, heading north. A southbound car attempted to turn left — likely without yielding — and ended up directly in the path of the SUV. The resulting collision caused the SUV driver and one of her passengers to be ejected.

The ejected driver suffered fatal injuries, and she died at the accident scene. The passenger who was also ejected — a 20-year-old female — was rushed to a medical facility with injuries that were reported to be critical. The second passenger in the SUV suffered no injuries. The sedan was operated by an 18-year-old man who was also hospitalized, and his condition was reported to be stable.

Whenever lives are lost in fatal motor vehicle accidents, the surviving family members of the deceased victims are entitled to pursue financial relief through the Missouri judicial system. Similarly, injured victims may seek recovery of damages. Wrongful death and/or personal injury claims may be filed in a civil court, and upon establishment of negligence on the part of another driver, the court will consider entering monetary judgments to cover documented claims. These may include financial losses, such as end-of-life or medical expenses, as well as non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering and more.
