Motorcycle accidents are often by their very nature extremely dangerous for the simple reason that motorcyclists and their passengers are not enclosed like the occupants of other motor vehicles. In collisions with vehicles like cars and trucks, motorcyclists are often seriously injured while operating a motorcycle. A man recently lost his life in one such Missouri motorcycle accident.

Details on this particular crash remain sketchy at this time. Initial reports indicate that the motorcycle collided with a car just after 3:00 a.m. Preliminary evidence suggested that the motorcycle may have slammed into the car’s front passenger side. However, there has not yet been any determination as to which driver might have been at fault.

The motorcycle and car were apparently traveling near the intersection of Hazelwood and Latty Avenues in north St. Louis County at the time of the fatal motorcycle accident. The force of the crash threw the motorcyclist away from his bike and seriously injured him. While emergency personnel did transport him for medical treatment, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

There has been no word on whether the other driver was hurt. Missouri authorities will likely continue investigating the incident while they decide whether any criminal charges are appropriate.

In the meantime, however, surviving family members may decide to go ahead with a wrongful death lawsuit if evidence suggests that another driver’s negligence caused or contributed to this collision. Filing such a civil action may bring them peace of mind as they seek reasons for their loved one’s demise and try to recover any funeral or other expenses caused by this man’s death
