Due to the large number of vehicles that are on a Missouri roadway at any given moment, it isn’t uncommon for car accidents to occur. Unfortunately, some of these accidents turn deadly, especially when more than one vehicle is involved. One of Missouri’s most recent fatal motor vehicle accidents left one individual dead and another person seriously injured.

The accident involved two vehicles. Once notified, the fire department was on the scene within three minutes. Both drivers had to be extracted from their respective vehicles.

One person was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. Another person was transported to a local hospital and was reported to have life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Currently, the cause of the accident is unclear. However, an investigation is ongoing. If the driver who survived is deemed to have been at fault, criminal charges could apply. Moreover, the family of the deceased driver may choose to move ahead with a wrongful death lawsuit. On the other hand, if the deceased driver is thought to have been responsible for the crash, his estate could face liability claims on behalf of the seriously injured driver.

It can be extremely difficult for victims and families of victims to move past such a tragic event in their lives. This is true even when a person pays criminally for their negligence and involvement of one of Missouri’s fatal motor vehicle accidents. Sometimes, a civil claim may be a viable option to obtain a sense of justice being served. A successfully litigated claim may offer financial restitution for medical expenses, burial costs, emotional anguish and other related damages.
