Drug charges can greatly impact the lives of those who are accused of such criminal allegations. They can also lead to serious penalties if a conviction is obtained. Two Missouri residents are now facing drug charges after police executed two search warrants at their respective residences. Authorities allege that they confiscated illegal drugs including heroin, marijuana and crack cocaine in the searches.

Police arrested a woman at one of the residences and a man at the other. The woman was accused of possession of a controlled substance and taken into custody. When police executed the search warrant at the other residence, a male apparently jumped out of a window before trying to escape from authorities.

They captured the man after a brief pursuit. He was charged with suspicion of resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. Authorities say there is also an outstanding Illinois warrant against the man for another possession of a controlled substance allegation. Both the male and female suspects are being held in a Missouri jail and were awaiting further legal actions in their cases.

Various Missouri law enforcement agencies worked together on this case before executing the search warrant and filing drug charges against the two suspects. Apparently an Illinois agency also participated. With that being said, however, both the man and woman are entitled to defend themselves against the charges made against them. The prosecution bears the burden of proof when it comes to proving the allegations brought against the two suspects. If it cannot meet that high burden of proof, then the two people will be cleared of any criminal wrongdoing stemming from this specific investigation.
