It is a sad fact that car accidents, fatal or not, occur every day on Missouri roads. In some cases, car accidents may occur due to poor weather. In other instances, they may be due to the reckless driving of another driver. Unfortunately, one of Missouri’s most recent car crashes has claimed the life of one of the passengers who was in the vehicle.

According to authorities, the vehicle, which contained two passengers, left the road and overturned one recent evening. One of the passengers was a 51-year-old man who was partially thrown from the vehicle. He was transported to a medical facility where he was formally pronounced deceased.

The second passenger was a 26-year-old male. He sustained only minor injuries from the crash. It is unclear whether or not the driver, a 27-year-old male, sustained any injuries. However, state law requires that he be tested for drug and alcohol use. At this time, the results have not been disclosed.

When Missouri individuals fail to exercise reasonable care while on the road, they may be found negligent when car crashes occur. A person may be required by the court to pay for any damages caused by his or her negligence. The victim or the victim’s family, however, must prove that the defendant indeed acted negligently and that negligence caused the accident and injuries that followed. If this can be done, the victim or the victim’s family may be able to receive a monetary award to help cover any financial losses from the accident.
