Another apparent failure-to-yield accident has sent several people to a Missouri hospital. In late May, we discussed a failure-to-yield story. Police believe that a woman driving a Mazda attempted to make a turn near Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri around 10:00 Tuesday morning. However, police say that she pulled out into oncoming traffic and also directly into the path of a sport utility vehicle carrying several people.

The Mazda and the SUV collided head-on. Three people from the SUV were thrown into the windshield of the Mazda, according to the Associated Press.

University Police say that none of the people in the SUV were wearing seatbelts. Two of the injured passengers from the SUV reportedly are incoming freshmen football players at the University of Missouri. All three men in the SUV suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from University Hospital.

The woman who had been driving the Mazda reportedly also suffered minor injuries in the head-on crash. She was listed in fair condition at the hospital as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the Associated Press. Officials cited her for failing to yield after the wreck.

Failure to yield cases can involve complex factual disputes, even when authorities cite a driver in a crash. Citations and other government accusations remain as allegations unless proven in court. Confusion may be created in some failure to yield cases, and insurance companies may also seek to reduce compensation for accident victims in some cases where confusion is alleged after an injury accident.
