Celebrity couples, when they divorce, often fall into two camps: those who have prenuptial agreements and those who don’t. This is especially true when one member of the couple is famous (and, in general, wealthy) and the other is not. Two famous actors might each come out OK were they to divorce each other, but a famous actor and his or her relatively anonymous spouse might leave the spouse relatively shut out without some kind of premarital agreement in place.

At first blush, this might seem to be the case with the high-asset divorce of Kelsey Grammar, star of such shows as “Cheers,” “Frasier” and “Boss,” and his former wife, Camille. While Camille Grammar has gone on to prominence by appearing on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” she was relatively unknown when the pair were married in 1996. Kelsey Grammar was in the midst of his 11-year run on “Frasier,” which made him one of the highest-paid actors on television.

However, Kelsey Grammar’s financial state — and a drug problem for which he eventually sought rehab — left him with hardly any assets at the time of the marriage. Since then, however, the couple has accumulated assets of roughly $60 million, according to the recently filed divorce settlement. Because these assets were acquired after the wedding — some say steered by Camille Grammar’s financial acumen — the fortune will be split roughly evenly.

While the couple weren’t on particularly friendly terms during their split, both Kelsey and Camille Grammar have landed on their feet with new relationships. Camille says she is happy with her new boyfriend from Greece, while Kelsey has already remarried and had a child with his new wife.
