About Kristin Mengwasser
Kristin M. Mengwasser joins the firm with more than fifteen years of public-sector legal experience and a strong background in litigation, courtroom advocacy, and family-related matters. She has been licensed to practice in Missouri since 2009.
Kristin most recently served as Assistant City Counselor for the City of Columbia, where she provided comprehensive legal services to city departments, elected officials, and board members. Her work focused on airport, contract, employment, and municipal law, and she represented the City in collective bargaining negotiations with multiple labor units.
Prior to her municipal practice, Kristin spent several years as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in both Boone and Cole Counties, handling felony and misdemeanor cases from charging through final disposition. She regularly appeared in court for hearings and trials, presented cases to the Grand Jury, and successfully tried multiple jury and bench trials. Kristin also worked closely with victims of violent crimes, guiding them through the legal process and providing steady, informed advocacy.
Earlier in her career, Kristin served in the Regional Child Support Unit and as a Child Support Hearings Officer with the Missouri Department of Social Services. In those roles, she handled paternity actions, criminal non-support cases, and administrative hearings involving the establishment, modification, and enforcement of child support orders. Her experience includes questioning witnesses, , drafting decisions, and navigating complex family and financial issues.
Kristin earned her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law, where she completed a Criminal Skills Litigation Concentration, and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Women’s Studies, magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University.
Kristin brings to her family law practice extensive courtroom experience, a strong understanding of child support and family-related legal issues, and a steady, practical approach to helping clients navigate difficult transitions.
